Open during November Lockdown 2020

The Clifton Bed & Breakfast South Shields will remain open during the National Lockdown starting on Thursday 5th November 2020.  There will be restrictions on the people that we are able to offer accommodation to.  These will be released later this week, but it is likely that they will be similar as the last lockdown in March 2020.

It is likely that we will be able to offer accommodation to guests staying for the following reasons:

• Key workers as identified by the Government: NHS staff & those associated with work in the healthcare sector, those working in areas such as Logistics, food distribution, utilities (including those working in the supply, distribution and maintanence of power supply (Gas & electricity), Water supply & treatment, Public Service staff, Construction industry operatives
• Those attending funerals where it is not practicable to travel to and from the ceremony in a single day
• Those whom are moving house and are unable to move in to their permanent residence
• Those individuals who are unable to be repatriated to their home country due to travel restrictions
• Those people who are unable to return to their permanent place of residence due to fire, flood or insurance loss which makes their dwelling inhabitable.

Confirmation of the restrictions for overnight stays will be updated  on our website when they are realeased by the government.

Our coffeeshop and other communal areas will be closed as a result of the lockdown restrictions, but contigencies will be made such that guests staying with us during this period will be able to have a breakfast option.  This is likely to be in the form of a takeaway breakfast that can either be consumed in their bedroom or taken away to work.

We are a covid secure premise and have all the facilities and precautions in place to ensure the safety and welfare of guests that stay with us.  We remained open during the previous lockdown providing accommodation for a range of guests that fell within the restritions outlined by the Government, so we are well versed in operating the business effectively during challenging times.

We recognise that in challenging times plans can change regularly, therefore we offer free cancellation to all guests who book direct with us.

Please be aware that in the previous lockdown, Key workers needed proof from their employer on their right to travel and stay overnight for work purposes.  We are happy to receive this information via email from employers in advance of the guests stay.
