The North East Coastline boasts some amazing scenery. There are plenty of fantastic beaches, castles and places of interest to explore. South Shields compliments the area with amazing beaches, great panaramic views over the mouth of the River Tyne and Tynemouth Priory. 
There a number of beautiful parks and plenty of space to picnic or play games. Whilst on the Seafront we have Crazy Golf and an Amusement Park. If you like walking and fresh air you will love South Shields Seafront. You can walk along the top of the Cliffs to Marsden Rock, where you can dip down to a secluded cove. Trek further along the coast and you will see Souter Lighthouse the first Electric Lighthouse in Great Britain.
Just 250m in one direction from the Clifton Hotel is Littlehaven Beach and just a couple of streets away you will discover Arbeia a Roman Fort!
The Clifton is ideally situated in easy reach of all of the local facilities. There are plenty of places to dine out in the area from the famous Colman’s Fish & Chip Restaurant to Mambo’s Wine & Dine Medditeranean Restaurant, plus a number of Indian, Italian and Turkish Restaurants. Our favourite is Spanish Italian, Great Food & Great service all nicely presented at very reasonable prices.
The Clifton also boasts its own coffee shop reknowned for its Afternoon Tea and popular Brunch Menu.
There is so much to do and choose from in South Shields you will want to visit again and with Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland on your doorstep you will be spoilt of where to go.
